Aloha and Blessings to you! Originally from Canada my wife, Nancy and I worked for over 20 years amongst the rural poor of the Rajasthan desert in Pakistan. We never dreamed that it was in God's plan to bring us to such a paradise as the Big Island and to care for its generous and gentle people. After 7 years here we still pinch ourselves!
I am board certified in Family Medicine from the University of Toronto and further trained in Tropical and Preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins.
I am drawn to all things ocean and a Saturday morning may find me scuba diving off one of the many coves along our western shore. I also love spending time with our grandchildren, (12 and counting!) teaching them to horseback ride or explore our many tidal pools.
Aloha! I love serving the Kona community and feel very much at home here on the Big Island with my wife and two kids. My wife grew up on Oahu and we lived there for many years - but now I know, Big Island is nō ka ‘oi (da best).
I am board certified in Family Medicine. I graduated from Ross Univ. School of Medicine and before that, attended University of South Alabama.
I really enjoy snorkeling, hiking, and I'm trying some gardening lately for fun. I volunteer at the University of the Nations campus here in Kona and love international travel, especially Asia & the Pacific.
My heart is to help people improve their quality of life physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Being part of this amazing healthcare team is a joy and an honor. This Ohana truly promotes whole-person health, the way God designed us to be.
Aloha! It has been my honor to serve the Kailua-Kona community since 2015 at the Aloha Kona Urgent Care and to be a part such a wonderful group of people. My journey in medicine began with an interest in biochemistry and health through college at the University of San Francisco and medical school at Tulane in New Orleans and quickly realized we are more than a bag of chemicals and our hearts and spirits are directly affected by our hurts and need healing also.
I completed my Family Medicine training at UC Davis Medical Center California and have advanced my education by completing a Board Certification in Integrative Medicine to apply many other tools to help heal the body, mind and spirit.
My passion is for all forms of nature our beautiful world around us. I like hiking, snorkel and scuba as well as just soaking in the amazing environment we have been blessed with.
When not on island, I travel to California to visit my many nieces and nephews or head to Guatemala, where I am on the Board of Directors for a non-profit that empowers individuals and the community toward education, health and self-reliance with a preschool, school scholarships, and a clinic while also providing microloans for upcoming entrepreneurs.
I'm excited to be a part of an organization that reaches out to bring much needed services and specialists to our community here in Hawaii as well as bringing healing combined with compassion to the whole person.
Aloha! Thank you for giving me the privilege and opportunity to walk with you on the journey to better health. I am a mother and grandmother. I began my career as a Registered Nurse in 1986, but always had big dreams of being a nurse that could provide whole person care to my patients.
In 2010, I graduated with a Masters degree in Advanced Nursing Practice and began my career in a family practice where I managed the care of families and people of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. I'm a keen listener and love to help people achieve wellness. I believe I have a wealth of clinical experience alongside devoted years in volunteering in humanitarian efforts in developing nations and have expertise in community development.
I am a wife, mother and grandmother. My husband Rick and I moved to the Big Island in 2018 where we plan to stay and serve the beautiful people of Hawaii.
Aloha! Originally from North Carolina, I moved to the Big Island in 1986. I left in 1997, but finally found a way to return back to the Big Island full-time in 2018 . I have experience working as a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine for over 18 years, as well as in Urgent care and family practice.
With a Masters in Public Health, I have taught and worked in international health care settings in over 30 nations, and have a love for the many cultures we embrace on our island.
I enjoy scuba diving and learning to cook island style!
I have been fortunate to live all over the US over the years. Most recently in 2018 my family and I received the call from the Lord to come to Hawaii to care for those sick and in need, and we were able to make the move in 2020.
My wonderful wife Tammy and I raise four amazing and funny children. We spend our time hiking, snorkeling, spearfishing, surfing, and swimming. As our youngest puts it “We love God’s Ocean”. I also am blessed to serve as the unit physician for the toughest soldiers you will ever meet at 1/299 CAV Squadron in Hilo.
I studied medicine and osteopathy at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed my residency training at the UPMC Family Medicine program in Williamsport, PA with a concentration in Emergency Medicine. This training gave me the ability to provide care to all age groups.
I have additional training in Osteopathic Manipulation, which is a great way to help my patients when they are in pain. If you have any questions about what that means, I would encourage you to visit this link:
Ultimately my family and I are here to love, care for, and serve the people of Big Island. We love the Ohana culture and want to be a part of how Jesus is loving his people here. If you choose to let me be a part of your care, I look forward to helping you navigate your healthcare journey from preventative visits and chronic medical management, to everyday illness and injury. You can count on me to see you IN PERSON, no matter what care you need.
